Draft Scouting Report
Sebastian Castro is a taller, thicker slot cornerback-safety hybrid who played an active, instinctive role in college. His choppy feet are quicker than they are truly explosive, often making it look like he’s working hard to gain speed. While his hips are reasonably fluid, his overall movement can appear labored, and he doesn’t possess high-end burst. However, his strong route recognition allows him to jump patterns and play a step faster than he’ll test.
In coverage, Castro has some man-to-man potential in the slot, but he often compensates with physicality rather than pure speed to stay with quicker receivers. He’s at his best in zone, where he can keep his eyes on the quarterback while reading route concepts to react quickly. His instincts and aggressiveness make him an active presence around the football, though his ball skills are nothing spectacular -- he dropped several would-be interceptions in college.
As a tackler, he’s inconsistent -- he makes solid plays ranging toward the sideline but also has a fair share of diving misses or failed wrap-ups. His versatility and football IQ stand out, but his athletic traits are average, and he enters the league as an older prospect.
