Draft Scouting Report
Francisco Mauigoa is a tall, well-built off-ball linebacker with plus athleticism and an aggressive, attacking play style. He triggers quickly downhill, covers ground with long strides and flashes sideline-to-sideline range, though his pursuit angles and instincts are still developing. His change-of-direction ability allows him to stay with backs behind the line, and he's an explosive, effective blitzer who regularly overwhelms pass blockers. While tackling consistency and block shedding remain concerns, his physical tools suggest upside in both areas. In coverage, he has the movement skills to contribute but needs polish, particularly in man assignments. Mauigoa isn’t raw, but he’ll need refinement to reach his full potential.
- 2023-24: Two-time second-team All-ACC
- 2023-24: Led team in sacks the past two seasons
- Explosive in a lean frame
- Tremendous blitzer, no holding back when attacking downhill
- Flashed at times in coverage making plays on the football
- Average at best tackling reliability
- Despite play style, not a deft block-defeater
- Better close to the line than sinking in coverage
- 40-yard dash: 4.60 seconds
- Vertical jump: 35 inches
- 20-yard shuttle run: 4.24 seconds
- Broad jump: 10 feet, 1 inches
- 3-cone drill: 7.15 seconds
