Browns' James Proche: Special-teams role in finale
Proche returned one kickoff for 19 yards and was not targeted in Saturday's 35-10 loss to the Ravens in Week 18.
Proche filled the return role on punts, much like he's done whenever the Browns added him to the active roster this season, and had his first kickoff return. He finished the season with 19 punt returns for 172 yards and three receptions (three targets) for 21 yards.

Browns' James Proche: Signed to Browns' active roster
Cleveland signed Proche from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday.
Proche had been elevated from the Browns' practice squad to the active roster for the last three games, and over that span he caught two passes for 18 yards while adding 44 punt-return yards. The 2020 sixth-round pick will now be on Cleveland's 53-man roster for the final two games of the regular season, and he could see more offensive snaps against the Dolphins on Sunday due to injuries to Jerry Jeudy (knee), Cedric Tillman (concussion) and tight end David Njoku (knee).

Proche reverted to the Browns' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Proche played five snaps on special teams in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Bengals, logging two punt returns for 30 yards and two fair catches. Given that Proche has now hit the three-game maximum for elevations to the active roster, the Browns will have to sign him to the 53-man roster for him to suit up in either or both of the last two regular-season games. The 28-year-old wide receiver and return specialist has recorded three catches for 21 yards and amassed 163 punt-return yards this season in Cleveland.

The Browns elevated Proche from their practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's battle against the Bengals, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Proche will be elevated for the third straight week as Cedric Tillman continues to sit out due to a concussion. Over the past two weeks as a gameday elevation, Proche has tallied two catches for 18 yards on four offensive snaps. He figures to again log just a few offensive snaps Sunday while also contributing on special teams.

Proche was elevated from the practice squad for a second straight week due to Cedric Tillman (concussion) being sidelined. Proche served as the Browns' primary returner Sunday after Kadarius Toney was waived this past Tuesday, but the former ended up fumbling on a punt return early in the first quarter that led to a seven-yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes to JuJu Smith-Schuster three plays later. Whether Proche is elevated for Week 16 against the Bengals will likely depend on whether Tillman is able to clear the league's five-step concussion protocols.

Browns' James Proche: Costly turnover in loss
Proche returned three punts for 14 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 21-7 loss to Kansas City.
After the Browns forced a three-and-out punt on Kansas City's first possession, Proche lost the handle on a return at the Browns' 21-yard line. Three plays later, Cleveland was in a 7-0 hole. Kadarius Toney muffed a punt in Week 14 and was cut from the roster last Tuesday, so there could be further changes to the return team coming. Proche as been an on-and-off again punt returner this season and has just three catches for 21 yards on offense.
