Trestan Ebner: Reaches injury settlement
Ebner (concussion) was waived by the Bears with an injury settlement Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: Reverts to IR

Trestan Ebner: Gets let go
Ebner (concussion) was waived by the Bears with an injury designation Tuesday, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Ebner was likely on the bubble coming into camp, but his unfortunate entrance into concussion protocols after the team's first preseason contest was certainly a setback for the team's 2022 sixth-round selection. Assuming he clears waivers, he'll revert to injured reserve.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: Expected to be on roster bubble
Ebner appears to be in direct competition with Travis Homer for the Bears' No. 4 running back role, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Despite Ebner having some nice runs during camp while also bringing value on special teams, he may face an uphill battle for a roster spot against Homer. With Homer being counted on as a key special teamer, Ebner may need to overcome the odds to make the Week 1 roster.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: May be on roster bubble
Ebner is expected to compete with Travis Homer for the final running back spot on the Bears' roster, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Ebner was drafted in the sixth round in 2022, but he rushed for just 2.3 yards per carry on 24 attempts. When David Montgomery missed time in Weeks 3 and 4, Ebner did little with his opportunity by rushing 13 times for 43 yards and catching two passes for eight yards. In the offseason, the Bears signed Homer to a two-year deal. Homer was a receiving back and special teams contributor in his four years with the Seahawks. With the fourth running back role in a backfield that also includes D'Onta Foreman, Khalil Herbert and Roschon Johnson likely requiring the player to contribute on special teams, Ebner may have a difficult time holding off Homer for a roster spot.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: Limited usage in rookie season
Ebner was targeted twice in the Bears' 29-13 loss to the Vikings in Week 18, and ended the season with 24 carries for 54 yards along with two receptions for 16 yards.
Ebner saw most of his opportunities as a running back when David Montgomery missed time during Weeks 3 and 4, but he never played significant snaps in any other game the rest of the season. It's likely that he'll be counted on to continue his role as a kick returner next year, and if he shows progress as a running back, he could see enhanced opportunities in that capacity as well. He's under contract through 2025.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: Little production in loss
Ebner failed to catch his long pass target in the Bears' 25-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Ebner did recover a Chicago fumble, which helped his team, but he likely didn't benefit many fantasy managers. With Khalil Herbert (hip) nearing a return, the former will likely play the majority of his snaps on special teams, giving him minimal fantasy value.

Bears' Trestan Ebner: Takes on secondary role in loss
Ebner rushed eight times for six yards in the Bears' 27-24 loss to the Falcons on Sunday.
Although the Bears ran the ball 41 times, 35 of those carries went to David Montgomery and Justin Fields, leaving just a small number of touches for Ebner. It would appear that Ebner will see a limited number of touches while Khalil Herbert (hip) spends time on injured reserve. However, should there be any games that are decided early, Ebner could be a candidate to see significant work in those late-game situations.
