Hudson was listed as questionable after being a late-week addition to the injury report. He's good to go for his normal role on special teams for Cleveland.

  • Browns' Khaleke Hudson: Dealing with ankle injury

Hudson (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

Hudson popped up on the Browns' injury report as a limited participant in Friday's practice, and he's now in jeopardy of missing the team's Week 9 contest. The 26-year-old linebacker has recorded five total tackles across seven appearances with the Browns this season, playing almost exclusively on special teams (135 of 138 total snaps on special teams). If Hudson can't play through his ankle issue Sunday, Nathaniel Watson could see additional time as one of Cleveland's top rotational linebackers.

  • Browns' Khaleke Hudson: Poached by Cleveland

The Browns signed Hudson off the Saints' practice squad on Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Hudson was one of New Orleans' standard elevations in Week 1, per Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. He bumped up from the practice squad and played five snaps on defense, plus nine on special teams, in the Saints' blowout win over Carolina. Now, Hudson will get a chance to build on his momentum as a member of Cleveland's active roster.

  • Khaleke Hudson: Just misses final cut

Hudson was released by the Saints on Tuesday, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Hudson jumped to New Orleans this spring after a four-year stint in Washington that saw him have the best season of his career in 2023. However, the Michigan product was unable to carry over that momentum into a 53-man roster spot.

  • Saints' Khaleke Hudson: Returns to practice Tuesday

Hudson (undisclosed) was seen participating in practice Tuesday, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.

Hudson was held out of Monday's practice with an unspecified injury, but he was back on the field participating in team drills one day later. He registered four tackles in Saturday's preseason opener against the Cardinals, and the 2020 fifth-rounder will look to build off that performance against the 49ers on Sunday.

  • Saints' Khaleke Hudson: Absent from practice

Hudson (undisclosed) was unavailable for the Saints' practice Sunday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.

Hudson finished with four total tackles in Saturday's 16-14 victory over the Cardinals in the team's preseason opener. He appears to have left the contest a little dinged up and he'll attempt to get back out on the practice field prior to next Sunday's matchup with San Francisco.

  • Saints' Khaleke Hudson: Inks with New Orleans

The Saints and Hudson agreed to terms Thursday on a one-year contract, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Hudson put together a career-best 2023 season with Washington, the final year of his rookie deal, when he notched 74 tackles (44 solo), two pass defenses and 1.0 sacks in 17 regular-season games. Eight of those contests were starts, and he contributed 341 snaps on special teams. He figures to handle a similar role with New Orleans.

  • Commanders' Khaleke Hudson: Comes on strong late in 2023

Hudson finished the 2023 season with 74 tackles (44 solo), two pass defenses and 1.0 sacks in 17 games (eight starts).

The 2020 fifth-round pick finally got his shot at a featured role over the final four weeks of his rookie contract and responded with 11 or more tackles in each of those games while taking 85 percent or more of the defensive snaps. Hudson nonetheless heads into free agency having played more than twice as many snaps on special teams (1,222) as on defense (551), but it's possible the strong finish to 2023 earns him a starting opportunity in 2024 -- be it in Washington or elsewhere.

  • Commanders' Khaleke Hudson: Another big effort in loss

Hudson had 11 tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 27-10 loss to the 49ers.

Hudson has started at outside linebacker for Jamin Davis (shoulder) since Week 15 and the former has registered double-digit tackles in all three games since. Hudson primarily served on special teams to start the year, but his performance as of late could propel him to more work on the defensive side of the ball next season. He was one last chance to show what he's got in Week 18 against the Cowboys.

  • Commanders' Khaleke Hudson: Racks up 15 stops in Week 16

Hudson totaled 15 tackles (10 solo) and deflected two passes Sunday in a loss to the Jets.

Hudson's tackle total led Washington and was a career-high mark. The fourth-year pro worked primarily as a special-teamer over his first three NFL campaigns and through the first five weeks this season, but he's seen his role increase since then. When Jamin Davis (shoulder) went on IR on Dec. 13, it opened a starting spot for Hudson, and the latter has capitalized on the opportunity with 28 total stops in two subsequent starts.

  • Commanders' Khaleke Hudson: Double-digit tackles in loss

Hudson recorded 14 tackles (eight solo) in Sunday's 28-20 loss to the Rams.

Hudson stepped into a more significant role on Washington's defense in Week 15 after Jamin Davis (shoulder) was placed on injured reserve, notching a career-high 14 takedowns against Los Angeles. The linebacker will likely continue to see an increased workload in the Commanders' final three contests of 2023.

  • Commanders' Khaleke Hudson: Staying in Washington

The Commanders signed Hudson to a one-year deal Sunday, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports.

Hudson will stick with the Commanders for his fourth season after being selected by the team in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The 6-foot linebacker was let go by the team ahead of the 2022 campaign, though he was ultimately re-signed after spending the first six weeks of the season on Washington's practice squad. Hudson still never worked his way above a core special-teamer role in 2022, as he has played almost exclusively in this phase during his time with the Commanders. Hudson has accumulated 34 tackles across 41 regular-season appearances in his career.
