Commanders' Daniel Wise: Practices in full Thursday
Wise (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
It's an encouraging sign for Wise, who practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday and was ultimately sidelined Sunday against the Eagles with a high-ankle sprain. Given his ability to practice without restrictions Thursday, Wise will likely continue serving as a rotational piece for Washington's defensive line Sunday against the Cowboys.

Commanders' Daniel Wise: Ruled out for Week 3
Wise (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest agains the Eagles, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Wise suffered a high-ankle sprain during the team's Week 2 loss to the Lions and will miss at least one additional week. Rookie second-round pick Phidarian Mathis (knee) is already out for what looks like the entire season, so Efe Obada is in line for increased snaps moving forward.

Wise did not practice Wednesday and is nursing a high-ankle sprain, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Wise's injury isn't considered serious, but it puts his status for Week 3 versus the Eagles in real jeopardy. Rookie second-round pick Phidarian Mathis (knee) is already out for what looks like the entire season, so Efe Obada could slot into a significant role as long as Wise remains sidelined.

Wise finished the 2021 campaign on injured reserve due to a knee injury, but it's unlikely that the issue will impact his availability for offseason activities. He appeared in six games for Washington last year and racked up 10 tackles (five solo).

Wise left early with the injury in Week 15 against the Eagles and had already been ruled out for Sunday against the Cowboys. With a minimum stay of three weeks on IR and only three weeks left in the season, It'll take Washington getting to the playoffs for Wise to see the field again this season.

Football Team's Daniel Wise: Latest WFT lineman to test positive
Wise tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday and will be placed on Washington's reserve/COVID-19 list, Albert Breer of SI.com reports.
Wise was one of three Washington players to test positive for the virus Friday, joining starting quarterback Taylor Heinicke and practice squad running back Wendell Smallwood. If Wise is vaccinated, the NFL and NFLPA's new protocols for COVID-19 could theoretically allow him to gain clearance ahead of Sunday's game against the Eagles, but that seems like an unlikely outcome. Wise's expected absence further decimates Washington's depleted defensive line, which now has seven members on the reserve/COVID-19 list and two more on injured reserve.

Wise actually played a fairly significant role, as he was on the field for 11 of the team's 79 defensive snaps. However, he was unable to record any stats while chipping in to account for the absence of Matthew Ioannidis (knee).
