George W. Bush frequently stops by SMU athletic events. His presidential library is located on campus and he been a supporter of the Mustangs for some time. Under Chad Morris' leadership, Bush has now also become a part of SMU's offense on the football field.
The up-tempo attack installed by Morris uses the now-well known playcall cards to send signals to the offense. One of the images SMU will use this year include George W. Bush's headshot. With Bush on hand for Tuesday's practice, Morris let the 43rd U.S. President hold the board, joking that the play call was simply to "score a touchdown."
We had to put the 43rd President to work today. He did a great job n can hold board anytime he wants. #PonyUPTempo pic.twitter.com/KRtW5IqCtY

"It’s a great honor to have President Bush out at practice," Morris said Tuesday, via the Dallas Morning News. "I know our players as well as myself and the staff had a treat to have him talk to us. [He talked about] taking advantage of the opportunities you have. You’re at a great university. Make sure you get a great degree and be successful on the football field. I thought it was right at home with the culture we’re trying to change and the culture we’re trying to establish."
When the "First Fan" speaks, you listen! Thanks for stopping by @SMU_Football practice today, 43! #PonyUPTempo pic.twitter.com/xYGrNr0ldO
