Florida State will try to get its first win of the season this Saturday against Memphis at Doak Campbell Stadium. The Seminoles are hoping to avoid their second 0-3 start in the last four years, and coach Mike Norvell will have to do it against his former team.
After entering the season as the No. 10 team in the country, Florida State has suffered back-to-back upsets in its first two games. First, the Seminoles lost a heartbreaker to Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland, in Week 0. Then, they laid an egg in their home opener against Boston College. The Seminoles scored a combined 34 points in those two games, and their rushing defense was gashed. Transfer quarterback DJ Uiagalelei has struggled to find his rhythm in Tallahassee, completing just 58% of his throws for 465 yards, one touchdown and one interception.
The Tigers, on the other hand, are off to a much better start this fall with a 38-17 win over Troy last weekend. It was a big day for running back Mario Anderson, who had 17 carries for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Anderson also caught four passes for 23 yards. Anderson could be a problem for a Florida State defense that has allowed 226.5 yards rushing per game.
