West Virginia senior defensive lineman Kyle Rose was arrested early Sunday morning at a Morgantown bar and charged with a series of misdemeanors, according to reports.
According to the criminal complaint quoted by the local Dominion-Post, Rose attempted to enter the bar at 2:30 a.m. and caused a disturbance, attracting the attention of nearby police officers. Rose resisted officers' attempt to take him into custody, per the complaint, eventually striking an officer in the forehead. After being forced to the floor, Rose allegedly ignored futher warnings to cease resisting, at which point officers deployed a taser.
Rose has been charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer and battery on an officer. He was released on a $600 bond.
“We are aware of the situation, and the matter will be handled internally,” Dana Holgorsen told the Dominion-Post in an email. A WVU spokesperson said Rose "could face student disciplinary action."
Rose redshirted in 2011 but has appeared in all 38 Mountaineers games since then, starting 20, including all 13 during the 2014 season. He finished with 35 tackles, first among Mountaineers defensive linemen.
