Who's Playing
Hawaii @ Utah State
Current Records: Hawaii 4-4; Utah State 5-2
What to Know
Get ready for a Mountain West battle as the Utah State Aggies and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will face off at 3 p.m. ET Saturday at Merlin Olsen Field at Maverik Stadium. These two teams seek to continue their momentum from their previous wins.
Things were close when Utah State and the Colorado State Rams clashed last Friday, but Utah State ultimately edged out the opposition 26-24. The team ran away with 20 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those in the second to pick up the victory. Utah State can attribute much of their success to WR Derek Wright, who snatched two receiving TDs.
Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed 14. K Connor Coles booted in four field goals, the longest a 45-yarder in the second quarter, which ultimately accounted for the difference in the game.
Meanwhile, Hawaii was able to grind out a solid win over the New Mexico State Aggies last week, winning 48-34.
Utah State is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5-point margin of victory. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
The wins brought Utah State up to 5-2 and the Rainbow Warriors to 4-4. Two stats to keep an eye on: Utah State is 231st worst in the nation in thrown interceptions, having thrown nine on the season. Hawaii has experienced some struggles of their own as they are stumbling into the contest with the 242nd most thrown interceptions in the nation, having thrown ten on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
