Washington's offense suffered a serious setback on Thursday with Chris Petersen announcing that multi-purpose threat John Ross III will miss the entire 2015 season after suffering a leg injury during spring practice.

Ross started all 13 games at wide receiver last season while also adding starts at cornerback and leading the way on kickoff returns with three returns for touchdowns. Washington said that Ross underwent minor knee surgery after the 2014 season, but this injury happened during light work on the sidelines in the spring. According to the Seattle Times' Adam Jude, Ross "appeared to reinjured the knee while doing a light running drill."

Ross, a sophomore last season, has not used a redshirt yet and will have two years of eligibility remaining when he returns to the field.

Washington's passing attack, which struggled at times last season, has lost its most explosive playmaker, meaning much more will be expected from senior Jaydon Mickens and the rest of the Huskies receivers.
