It was reported last Thursday that Jim Mora was close to finding his new defensive coordinator, a name that's very familiar to college football fans on the East Coast. Tuesday, UCLA officially announced that West Virginia defensive line coach -- and long-time Penn State assistant -- Tom Bradley would take over the defense.
Bradley, who just joined Dana Holgorsen's staff at West Virginia one year ago, spent the 32 seasons prior as an assistant at Penn State.
Bradley played for the Nittany Lions and coached all over the place during his time there after being hired as an assistant by Joe Paterno. He spent 12 seasons as the team's defensive coordinator. After Paterno was dismissed, it was Bradley who was named interim head coach, but he was not retained on the staff when Bill O'Brien took over following the 2011 season.
Bradley didn't coach anywhere from 2012-13, taking two years off before joining the Mountaineers last season.
While Bradley has spent all but one season of his entire career at Penn State, he put together some very good defenses during his time, and defense will play anywhere. He'll be bringing plenty of experience with him to UCLA as he replaces Jeff Ulbrich.
