Oklahoma State running back Tyreek Hill was arrested and charged with domestic abuse late Thursday, the Oklahoman reported.

Stillwater police told the newspaper that Hill's girlfriend was admitted to the Stillwater Medical Center emergency room, where she told officers Hill had struck her in the face and stomach and choked her. The girlfriend further told officers she and Hill had been arguing before the confrontation bame physical. She was treated and released from the hospital.

Hill was later arrested at his home "based on probable cause for Domestic Abuse by Strangulation." The charge is a felony.

Per the Tulsa World, the police's statement to media specified that "the victim's injuries were consistent with her statements."

Oklahoma State declined comment to ESPN.

Hill is the Cowboys' second-leading rusher with 534 yards and one of the FBS's top return men, bringing back two kickoffs and one punt for touchdowns. The punt return score came late in the fourth quarter of the Cowboys' win over Oklahoma, sending the game to overtime.

That upset win earned the Cowboys bowl eligibility, and they will now face Washington in the Jan. 2 Cactus Bowl.
