Through 3 Quarters

The Georgia State Panthers were the heavy favorites here for a reason. Three quarters in and their offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks 48-14 three quarters in. Georgia State took a hit to their ego last week, so a win here would be a pleasant pick-me-up.

The Panthers and Louisiana-Monroe have certainly played as if they're avenging a defeat, because they are. At this point it looks like Georgia State might take this one, but there's still plenty of time for a reversal of fortune.

What to Know

The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks are staring down a pretty large 16-point disadvantage in the spread for Saturday's contest. Louisiana-Monroe and the Georgia State Panthers will face off in a Sun Belt battle at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at JPS Field at James L. Malone Stadium. Neither team wants a repeat from their last game since each was dealt a considerable loss.

The Warhawks played a matchup they are hoping to forget as they lost a 59-6 blowout to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers last week. Louisiana-Monroe was in a tough position by the half, with the score already sitting at 38-3. QB Chandler Rogers had a pretty forgettable game, throwing one interception with only 100 yards passing.

Meanwhile, a victory for Georgia State just wasn't in the stars last week as the squad never even grasped a temporary lead. Things couldn't have gone much worse for them as they lost 45-16 to the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Georgia State was down 31-9 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from. No one had a standout game offensively for Georgia State, but they got scores from QB Darren Grainger and WR Tailique Williams. Near the top of the highlight reel was Grainger's 66-yard TD bomb to Williams in the fourth quarter.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, which contributed ten. K Noel Ruiz delivered a perfect 3-for-3 game.

The Warhawks are now 2-2 while the Panthers sit at 1-4. A pair of defensive stats to keep an eye on: Louisiana-Monroe is stumbling into the game with the 231st most passing yards allowed per game in the nation, having given up 313.8 on average. Georgia State has experienced some struggles of their own as they are 236th worst in the nation in touchdowns allowed, with 22 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
