This weekend's schedule of college football games to be featured CBS Sports Network is a five-game slate of differing styles featuring unique matchups. This group of games has everything from option attacks to air-raid schemes. The Week 2 is highlighted by a slate of nonconference matchups that will begin Friday night and run through the early hours of Sunday morning.. That means schools will be seeking all-important victories to bolster their prospects of bowl eligibility before the grind of conference play ramps up.
Utah State kicked things off Friday night against a North Dakota team ranked No. 9 in the FCS. Saturday's slate features four FBS vs. FBS matchups, including a couple of games involving Power Five teams.
Purdue will be looking for a drama-free win at Connecticut before hitting the road again next week for a major test at Notre Dame. In the last game of the day, Vanderbilt will play an uncharacteristically late game for an SEC squad at Colorado State in a battle of teams coming off bad losses. In between, there will be contests involving contrasting styles as Army's option attack goes up against Western Kentucky's pass-heavy scheme, while Rice vies for a victory over cross-town rival Houston.

Storylines: The Rams and Commodores were among the six FBS teams that lost to FCS opponents in Week 1 ... and neither game was particularly close. Colorado State lost 42-23 to South Dakota State, while Vanderbilt dropped a 23-3 stunner to East Tennessee State. CSU's was a bit less embarrassing since SDSU played for the FCS national title just a few months ago. But both programs will be looking for a cleanse following atrocious starts to their seasons.
