Syracuse sophomore forward Jerami Grant is expected to announce his intentions to enter the NBA draft, as first reported by Pete Thamel of SI.com.
A source confirmed the news to CBSSports.com.
"He is not coming back to Syracuse," the source said.
Grant, a 6-foot-8 DeMatha (Md.) product, is projected as a first-round pick in most mock drafts. He had a breakout campaign this past season, averaging 12.1 points and 6.8 rebounds after playing just over 14 minutes per game as a freshman.
Syracuse is going to look young next season. Grant and point guard Tyler Ennis both decided to go pro, while C.J. Fair and Baye Keita both used up their eligibility. Trevor Cooney and Rakeem Christmas return in the lineup, while DaJuan Coleman will be back from injury. But there are question marks. Freshman Kaleb Joseph will have to step in at the point guard spot for Ennis, and while he is talented, he is still a raw playmaker who expected to have a year to develop behind Ennis.
In place of Grant, rising sophomore Tyler Roberson will have to take a big step. He played double-figure minutes just twice after the calendar turned to 2014.
