Kuran Iverson anxious to get his reputation back

Formerly a top-10 prospect in the class of 2013, Kuran Iverson has seen his stock drop in the past couple of years. He enters the summer period looking to regain his reputation.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – A couple of years ago, Kuran Iverson was ranked among the top players in the class of 2013. Most services had him as a five-star prospect and a potential future pro.

Now, it’s difficult to find Iverson in the top 50 of most top 100s. In fact, CBSSports.com has him ranked No. 71.

“I want to get back to where I was,” Iverson said. “I want to get my name back out there and have fun.”

Iverson said the rankings don’t bother him that much, since those can change on a daily basis, but he wants people talking about him again. He’s been battling a couple of different injuries over the past year, which have affected his play as well.

“I’ve been hurt, so it’s kind of difficult. I’ve been in the house for three months,” Iverson said. “I just feel like a nobody.”

His performance at NBPA Top 100 Camp has been a good first step toward getting his reputation back. After showing some passive tendencies early on, he has been effective offensively. At 6-foot-8 with an all-around skillset, Iverson has the ability to be a difficult matchup for opponents.

Even with his admittedly up-and-down play in the past few months, schools from all over the country are in the mix for him. He said Connecticut, Oklahoma State, Florida State and Seton Hall are making plays for him, and he is also interested in Kentucky and Florida.

While he is still open, he wants to take trips to Syracuse, Kentucky, Oklahoma State and Seton Hall.

Florida is coming at him the hardest, Iverson said.

“Billy Donovan is a great coach,” he said. “They have a good style of play.”

Iverson wants to make trips in the summer – and a decision could be coming in the next few months.
