Lou Henson, now 83, has two courts named after him in Division I. (USATSI)

The latest school to honor a former coach in the form of putting his name on it floor: Illinois.

Lou Henson won 423 games in 21 seasons with the Fighting Illini, and the school has announced it will play on "Lou Henson Court" going forward, effective immediately. The 83-year-old Henson was on hand Monday afternoon for a press conference. He was wearing an orange blazer, as is his custom, as he and school officials spoke of the decision.

The design will have an image of Henson's signature in addition to a graphic of his orange blazer. A pretty good touch. It was his 1988-89 team that reached the Final Four, highlighting Henson's career with the Illini. Henson's 214 wins are fifth-best in Big Ten men's basketball history.

This is the first of two big ceremonies for Henson in 2015. Come November, he's set to be enshrined into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame, in Kansas City. The decision comes after years of fans calling for Illinois to officially dub its floor after Henson.

Henson is of course most known for his time with Illinois, but he did first win more than 200 games while at New Mexico State -- and the court there is named after him as well. He is the only coach, to my knowledge, with his signature on two courts in Division I men's basketball.

Henson told supporters and the media on Monday he is fighting "pre-leukemia," so the gesture comes at an emotional time for he and his family. Henson is currently undergoing chemotherapy. As for Illinois' State Farm Center, it's still in the midst of renovations, so the floor won't be played on until the Illinois' home game on Dec. 2 against Notre Dame.

Here's what the design will look like.

Can't wait to play on "Lou Henson Court" this winter! #Illini @statefarmcenter
