Last week, reigning BIG3 MVP Joe Johnson capped off an epic performance with a dramatic game-winning shot over Power forward Royce White to lead the Triplets to a 2-0 start to the season. It looked like this:
This week, Johnson followed up that performance by hitting a second consecutive game-winner. This time it came on a turnaround fadeaway over Trilogy guard Isaiah Briscoe.
The Triplets moved to 3-0 on the season with the win, while the Trilogy dropped to 2-1. Johnson finished the game with 26 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Through three weeks, 'Iso Joe' appears to be well on his way to winning a second straight MVP award.
Elsewhere around the league, the Power handed the Ball Hogs their first loss of the season thanks to some solid play down the stretch from White, who led Power with 14 points and seven rebounds. Both Power and the Ball Hogs now sit at 2-1. Former NBA Slam Dunk champion Jason Richardson tallied 22 points and nine rebounds to lift Tri-State to a win over Ghost Ballers, who dropped their first game of the season.
In a battle of teams who entered the weekend winless, the Killer 3's pulled out a tough 50-47 win over Aliens, who fell to 0-3 on the season. Donte Greene paced the Killer 3's with 21 points and four rebounds. Also, the 3 Headed Monsters moved to 2-1 with a win over 3's Company.
