After those scoring contributions, Trouba committed the Rangers' last three penalties, but the Panthers couldn't make him pay for those mistakes. The veteran defenseman earned his first multi-point effort of the postseason and now has one goal, six helpers, 12 shots on net, 49 hits, 63 blocks, 20 PIM and a plus-2 rating over 13 playoff outings.... Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Assists on game-winner
Trouba provided the secondary assist on Barclay Goodrow's game-winning goal in overtime in Friday's 2-1 win over Florida. Trouba helped the Rangers avoid a two-game deficit in the series by starting the play in his own zone that led to the game-winner. The 30-year-old has a point in three of his last five contests after registering an assist Friday. Trouba also added one shot, five blocks, four hits and a plus-1 rating in 26:07 of ice time in Game 2. New York's captain has five points (one goal) with a plus-3 rating in 12 postseason contests.... Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Shorthanded goal in loss
Trouba netted a shorthanded goal in Monday's 4-1 loss to Carolina in Game 5. Trouba opened the scoring in the second period by firing a wrist shot past Carolina's Frederik Andersen, but that was it for New York's offensive output in the tilt. It was Trouba's first marker of the playoffs. The 30-year-old defenseman also had two shots on goal, three hits and four blocked shots in 18:38 of ice time. Trouba has four points (one goal) and a plus-1 rating in nine outings during the postseason.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Notches helper
Trouba provided an assist and two hits in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 4. Trouba helped out on an Alexis Lafreniere tally in the third period. Offense hasn't been a strong suit for Trouba in the playoffs -- he's earned three assists to go with 33 hits, 41 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a plus-1 rating over eight contests. The 30-year-old defenseman was a little shaky in his own zone Saturday, but he continues to fill a veteran role on the Rangers' blue line.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Collects assist in Game 4 win
Trouba recorded an assist, two shots on goal, six hits and five blocked shots in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Capitals in Game 4. Trouba has a helper in each of the last two contests after going 11 games without a point following his return from a lower-body injury at the end of March. The defenseman added 17 hits, 21 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over four playoff outings. Trouba should continue to serve in a shutdown role for the Rangers heading into the second round. He had 22 points, 191 hits and 183 blocked shots over 69 regular-season appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Good to go
Trouba (lower body) will be back in the lineup Saturday versus the Coyotes, according to Mollie Walker of the New York Post. Trouba, who will return from an 11-game absence, will probably play alongside K'Andre Miller in Saturday's contest. The 30-year-old Trouba has compiled three goals, 22 points, 114 shots on net, 170 blocked shots and 164 hits in 60 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Questionable Saturday
Trouba (lower body) remains a question mark heading into Saturday's matchup with Arizona. Coach Peter Laviolette told reporters, "We're still working through some things with him," Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports. Trouba has been out of action for the Rangers' last 11 contests due to his lower-body injury. Prior to getting hurt, the defenseman was stuck in a 23-game goal drought during which he registered six assists, 51 shots and 65 hits. With Erik Gustafsson (upper body) unavailable, Zac Jones will likely remain in the lineup if Trouba can't play.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Unlikely to return Thursday
Trouba (lower body) isn't likely to play against Colorado on Thursday, according to Jim Cerny of Forever Blueshirts. Trouba hasn't been in the lineup since March 4. He has three goals, 22 points, 52 PIM, 164 hits and 170 blocks in 60 outings in 2023-24. Trouba is expected to serve in a top-four capacity once he recovers, but the 30-year-old will likely have a minimal role on the power play.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Out at least two weeks
Trouba (lower body) is expected to miss the next 2-3 weeks, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports Friday. Trouba has three goals, 22 points, 52 PIM, 165 hits and 170 blocks in 60 outings in 2023-24. Chad Ruhwedel might play regularly while Trouba is unavailable due to his lower-body injury.... Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Not practicing Thursday
Trouba (lower body) will not skate Thursday. Trouba has played in every game besides two thus far in 2023-24. The 30-year-old will have some time to rest as the Rangers don't play until Saturday against the Blues. He has recorded three goals and 19 assists on the year while also providing a ton of physicality with 165 hits and 170 blocks.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Dishes helper in Wednesday's win
Trouba had an assist, three shots, two blocked shots, one hit and a plus-1 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets. Trouba showed off his two-way ability Wednesday, even though the physical blueliner's hit total was lighter than usual. His helper came on the second of New York's empty-netters, as Trouba moved the puck to Artemi Panarin, who lifted the puck into the vacated net from the Rangers' blue line to round out the scoring. Asked to play more of a stay-at-home role in New York, Trouba has come nowhere near his 2018-19 career high of 50 points with the Jets since joining the Rangers, and he's at 21 points through 58 games in 2023-24.... Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Eligible to return Wednesday
Trouba has served his two-game suspension and will be available against Tampa Bay on Wednesday. Trouba returns to action mired in an 11-game goal drought dating back to Jan. 4 versus the Blackhawks. During that stretch, the 29-year-old blueliner managed 27 shots, 25 hits and 24 blocks while averaging 21:19 of ice time. Zac Jones figures to be dropped from the lineup with Trouba back in action.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Handed two-game suspension
Trouba received a two-game suspension Saturday for elbowing Vegas' Pavel Dorofeyev during Friday's game. The late second-period incident resulted in Dorofeyev exiting the contest with an injury. Trouba will be eligible to return Feb. 7 against Tampa Bay. He has three goals, 19 points, 39 PIM, 112 hits and 142 blocks in 48 outings in 2023-24. With Trouba unavailable, Connor Mackey might draw into the lineup versus Ottawa after being recalled from AHL Hartford on Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Will have disciplinary hearing
Trouba will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Saturday for elbowing the Golden Knights' Pavel Dorofeyev (upper body) on Friday. No penalty was called when the incident occurred during the second period, but Dorofeyev was unable to return. The NHL Department of Player Safety is expected to release its decision on any disciplinary action for Trouba prior to Saturday's game in Ottawa.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Shows grit in narrow win
Trouba registered an assist, three hits and six blocked shots in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Capitals. This was a dogged effort from Trouba, who is starting in the offensive zone just 36.7 percent of the time, a career-low mark through his 11 years of service time between the Jets and Rangers. He's added three goals and 14 assists to go along with 101 hits and 132 blocked shots through 42 games, but the Rangers no longer require his services on the power play as yet another downgrade to his fantasy prospects.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Playing Thursday
Trouba (personal) will play in St. Louis on Thursday, per Mollie Walker of the New York Post. Trouba missed practice Tuesday and there was some doubt that he'd be available versus the Blues, but that has been put to rest. Trouba has three goals, 13 assists, 95 hits and 123 blocked shots in 39 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Absent from practice
Trouba was not in attendance for Tuesday's practice session due to personal reasons, Colin Stephenson of Newsday reports. Trouba's absence shouldn't be an immediate red flag for fantasy players, as the Rangers won't return to action until Thursday's matchup with St. Louis. Still, the Michigan native appears to have rediscovered his offensive game of late, notching a goal and two assists in his last five contests. If Trouba were to miss any time, Zac Jones would likely find himself back in the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Good to play Friday
Trouba (upper body) is set to return for Friday's contest against Florida, according to Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network. Trouba has two goals, 13 points, 33 PIM, 74 hits and 103 blocks in 33 appearances this season. He exited Thursday's 5-1 win over Washington after absorbing a hit from Tom Wilson, but it seems Trouba won't miss a full game due to the injury.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Hurt in Wednesday's game
Trouba (upper body) won't return to Thursday's game versus the Capitals. Trouba was injured on a hit from Tom Wilson early in the second period. The 29-year-old Trouba has four points over 12 contests in December, though his defensive play is vital to the Rangers' system. An update on his status should be available prior to Friday's game versus the Panthers.... See More ... See Less -
Rangers' Jacob Trouba: Receives fine Saturday
Trouba received a $5,000 fine for high-sticking Boston's Trent Frederic in Saturday's game. Trouba is no stranger to walking a fine line with his play, but he crossed it with his actions Saturday. The 29-year-old defenseman was not penalized during the game, but he added an assist, two shots on goal, three blocked shots and a plus-4 rating in a 7-4 win.... See More ... See Less
