Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns revealed Tuesday that Williams has received another cortisone injection in his right wrist, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Williams was given his first injection in early May, but the shot evidently didn't have the desired effect. If the second injection is also ineffective, it's possible the young shortstop will require surgery, per Stearns. Williams was slashing just .179/.360/.308 for Double-A Binghamton before being placed on the 7-day injured list, though the wrist injury could have played a part in his struggles.... See More ... Mets' Jett Williams: Targeting late-May return
Williams (wrist) received a cortisone injection last week, and he won't begin swinging a bat again until it's fully taken effect, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. The 20-year-old prospect was shut down April 21 due to right wrist soreness and hasn't played since. Williams was struggling in his first look at Double-A pitching, slashing .179/.360/.308, but a wrist issue could help explain the poor performance. Per Mets senior vice president of player development Andy Green, the team is hoping Williams will be back in the lineup for Double-A Binghamton by the end of the month.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Jett Williams: Getting on base at Single-A
Williams is hitting .207 with a .401 OBP, one home run and 13 steals in 34 games for Single-A St. Lucie. The 19-year-old shortstop has a strong batted-ball profile, with a 32 percent groundball rate and all-fields approach, but it hasn't translated into a high batting average in the early going. Even as an undersized 5-foot-6 middle infielder, Williams is strong where it counts and is expected to eventually develop notable over-the-fence power to go with his 70-grade speed.... See More ... Mets' Jett Williams: Solid start in rookie ball
Williams has played in 10 games for the Mets' Florida Coast League affiliate, putting up a .250/.366/.438 line with a homer, six steals and a 4:6 BB:K. He's certainly living up to his name on the basepaths, as Williams has succeeded on all of his steal attempts. The 14th overall pick in this year's draft, the 18-year-old Williams is years and years away from the majors, but he's off to a fine start to his professional career.... See More ... See Less

Anthony DiComo@AnthonyDiComo3H agoThe Mets expect reliever Shintaro Fujinami, whom they signed to a $3.25 million deal just before spring training, to be sidelined for 6-8 weeks. Fujinami is dealing with a shoulder injury, but the good news is there's still no belief in the organization that he'll need surgery.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron8H agoThe question for the #Mets is how they will fit Christian Scott, Tylor Megill, David Peterson and José Buttó into this rotation. Worry about Kodai Senga when or if that's a problem. Buttó and Scott deserve to be here for sure. One of the two can come back as the 6th starter.

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron8H agoRemember, Christian Scott threw only 87 innings last year. Need to slow him down a bit to get him through to the end of September. He will be back. This isn't a standard demotion. #Mets

Michael Baron@michaelgbaron8H agoBaty sent down, Scott sent down (temporary), Narváez is out. Why is Scott going down? I talked a little bit about that along with the (obvious) decision to go with Vientos over Baty on @just_mets. Among other things with this roster shuffle. https://t.co/EtGXXx4gsz
