The past month has been a chaotic one across the country, but no bigger move was made than when Arkansas hired Kentucky coach John Calipari following the departure of Eric Musselman. Calipari spent 15 years with the Wildcats, leading them to four Final Four berths. He previously took UMass and Memphis to the Final Four as well, and now will try to lead Arkansas back to that stage of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1995. Calipari's first Arkansas basketball roster has quickly started to take shape with the No. 1-ranked haul from the transfer portal, according to 247Sports.

While players can no longer enter the portal, there are still plenty of talented players who are still trying to decide on their next landing spot and be potential Arkansas basketball recruits. Arkansas basketball roster departures

Seven of Arkansas' nine-leading scorers from last season are seniors, so Hogs Nation expected there to be several new faces for the 2024-25 Arkansas basketball roster. What it didn't expect was that leading scorer Tramon Mark (16.2 points per game) would take his talents elsewhere. The native Texan, who began his career at Houston, is heading back to the Longhorn State as he joined Texas from the transfer portal.

Meanwhile, Trevon Brazile, who was the top underclassmen scorer for Arkansas last year with 8.6 ppg entered the 2024-25 college basketball transfer portal on May 1. He had previously declared for the NBA Draft as well and indicated that a return to Fayetteville was not in the cards. With other departures, that leaves the number of holdovers from last season's team at just two players -- Cade Arbogast and Lawson Blake -- both of whom made the team as walk-ons and combined to play all of seven minutes last year. Join HawgSports to see the latest on all of Arkansas' roster changes

Arkansas basketball news, roster

Calipari used a small rotation at Kentucky down the stretch of last season, with only seven players routinely playing double-digit minutes. He has already built an Arkansas roster that can be competitive with a small rotation, bringing in four transfers to go along with three incoming freshmen. Zvonimir Ivisic and Adou Thiero both followed Calipari from Lexington to Fayetteville, while Tennessee forward Jonas Aidoo and FAU guard Johnell Davis committed as well.

Thiero averaged 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds in 25 appearances for Kentucky, scoring in double figures four times in his final nine games of the regular season. Ivisic and Thiero are not the only players tied to Kentucky who will be suiting up for the Razorbacks this season, though. Calipari brought three of his commitments with him to Arkansas in Boogie Fland, Karter Knox and Billy Richmond, forming a top-10 recruiting class. Join HawgSports to get the latest on all of Arkansas' roster additions
