Some may laugh at the Great Balls of Fire name for WWE's July pay-per-view for the Raw brand, but the match card is incredibly impressive. A pair of heavyweight showdowns featuring four of the top wrestlers on Raw lead the show, which currently stands at eight matches with at least one more likely to be added.
Sunday, July 9 is here, and Great Balls of Fire should set the stage for SummerSlam in August. It is all set to go down live from Dallas beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The kickoff show will start an hour earlier at 7 p.m. ET and all action can be watched live nationally on WWE Network.

WWE Great Balls of Fire matches
Universal Championship -- Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Samoa Joe: Business picked up quickly in this feud after Samoa Joe earned the No. 1 contendership at Extreme Rules. Lesnar has only made one appearance on Raw since winning the title at WrestleMania 33.
Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Ambulance Match): A returning Strowman made his presence felt at Raw and challenged Reigns to this specific match. General manager Kurt Angle made it soon after.
Women's Championship -- Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks: Figured it would be Bliss-Banks at SummerSlam, but they're going with it earlier at GBOF. Perhaps this will be a prelude to that match still happening with a stipulation ... or as a triple threat.
Intercontinental Championship -- The Miz (c) vs. Dean Ambrose: This rivalry is still going on from Extreme Rules -- and further back as the superstar shake-up -- with Ambrose getting his rematch here.
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt: The interactions between these two have been continuous, and WWE made the match official over the holiday weekend.
Tag Team Championship -- Sheamus & Cesaro (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz (30-Minute Iron Man Match): Though the rematch was never announced in the first place, a stipulation was made for the bout Monday on Raw.
Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass: Cass turned on Enzo twice in as many weeks. A match between the two was a sure thing, and it was made official one week before Great Balls of Fire.
Cruiserweight Championship -- Neville (c) vs. Akira Tozawa (Kickoff Show): Now that Tozawa is being courted by the Titus Brand, he's received a booked match for the title at the PPV.
Matches below were not made for the show
Finn Balor vs. Elias Sampson: This has been a budding rivalry for weeks, but Balor is presently off of the biggest PPV before SummerSlam. It would not be surprising to see an in-ring segment with The Drifter at some point on the show, however.
Goldust vs. R-Truth: It's been nearly six weeks since the tag team split up and the rivalry began, yet they have not held a match against one another. Quite strange how WWE has booked this.
