Both points came in the first period, and Vilardi opened the scoring by snapping home a slick pass from Kyle Connor just 2:48 into the game. Vilardi was one of the rare Jets to have a quiet start to the season, but the 25-year-old has now posted back-to-back multi-point performances and has three goals and eight points through 10 contests.

Vilardi scored a goal on two shots and added a power-play assist in Monday's 6-4 loss to the Maple Leafs.
The Jets didn't get much depth scoring in their first loss of the season, but the top line was in fine form. Vilardi, Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor combined for all four goals and a total of eight points in the loss. Vilardi hasn't started as well as his linemates but still has two goals, six points (three on the power play), 12 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over nine outings. As long as he's on the top line, the 25-year-old should be a reliable scoring-only option for fantasy managers.

The goal was Vilardi's first of the season. The 25-year-old winger has maintained a top-line role at even strength, but he hasn't enjoyed the same success as his linemates Mark Scheifele and Kyle Connor. Through seven contests, Vilardi has four points, eight shots on net and a minus-2 rating. As long as he stays on the top line, he'll have ample upside.

One of Vilardi's helpers came on the power play. The 25-year-old continues to play in a top-line role, and he saw 21:23 of ice time Friday while compiling his first multi-point effort of the season. He's earned three assists (two on the power play) and four shots on net through four contests, but he's not adding much else in the way of non-scoring numbers. That's not unusual, as Vilardi is a skilled forward, but his fantasy value will be closely tied to his offense.

In his first year with the Jets, Vilardi had 22 goals and 14 assists over 47 regular-season games in a campaign disrupted by two major injuries. He could find another level on offense if he stays healthy, but he's yet to play in more than 63 games in a single season after back injuries early in his career and last season's battles with a knee injury and an enlarged spleen.

Vilardi is coming off his best point-per-game season (36 points, including 22 goals, in 47 games) and is poised for a career season. Vilardi is poised for regular shifts beside star veterans Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele, and that near point-per-game average could deliver 65-70 points if he can stay healthy. But he's never played more than 63 regular-season games in a season, so have a contingency plan.

One goal was on the power play and the last one went into an empty net. Vilardi had gone scoreless over his last four contests, two on each side of a four-week absence with an enlarged spleen. The 24-year-old is up to 19 goals, 33 points, 108 shots on net and a plus-11 rating through just 41 contests this season. He's seen time on the first line lately, though the Jets' forward combinations remain unsettled. Vilardi's a lock for the top six and should also continue to see plenty of power-play usage, so he's a strong depth option in fantasy.
