It looks like we finally figured out why Peyton Manning retired from football: So he could prepare for Comedy Central's latest roast.
The network has announced that Manning will be a roaster for its upcoming special that's set to air on Sept. 5. During the show, Manning and six comedy veterans will get to spend three hours making fun of Rob Lowe.
That's right America, we're getting "The Comedy Central Roast of Rob Lowe," and if past roasts are any indication, there's a 90 percent chance that Manning is going to be using a lot of words that we don't usually get to hear him say. You might want to put the kids to bed before you tune in because there probably won't be a lot of "Omaha" calls during this Manning appearance.
There's also a 90 percent chance that Manning mentions Papa John's and/or Budweiser beer.
If you're wondering what the connection is between Manning and Lowe, well, let's start with the obvious: Lowe broke the news on Manning's retirement in 2012.
Hearing my fave, #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts
— Rob Lowe (@RobLowe) January 18, 2012
The only problem with Lowe's tweet is that Manning didn't actually retire.
Lowe's a huge fan of the Colts, and also happens to be a close friend of Jim Irsay, so don't be surprised if the Colts owner also attends the roast, which will be taped on Aug. 27.
This will be Comedy Central's first roast since March 2015, when America got to laugh out loud for three hours at Justin Bieber's expense.
Anyway, Manning will be joined by Rob Riggle, Pete Davidson, Jimmy Carr, Jeff Ross and Bo Derek during the show. David Spade will serve as the Roast Master.
