As an NFL player Eric Weddle's got important business to deal with at halftime. As a dad he had more important business last week, staying on the field at halftime to watch his daughter perform as part of a halftime dance ceremony.
The Chargers inexplicably fined him $10,000 for his decision.
According to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Weddle was "stunned" and "furious" when he found out his own team dinged him for watching his own daughter perform at the team's stadium.
Weddle's agent David Canter confirmed the fine on Twitter, ripping the Chargers in the process:
By the way the team fined @weddlesbeard last week for seeing his daughter perform at halftime but we didn't disclose it BC were classy

Canter continued ranting on the Chargers, pointing out the team didn't let Weddle travel to Denver this coming week because the plane is "too small" after putting him on injured reserve.
Team has multiple players they aren't putting on injured reserve that can not play this weekend but have decided to put @weddlesbeard on IR

Team didn't announce injured players couldn't travel to Denver until after putting @weddlesbeard on IR. Said plane is to small. Hysterical

Tweeting out a link to Acee's story on the Weddle-Chargers relationship, Canter also noted the relationship issues were the "understatement of the decade."
Lots of times fines levied in the NFL make little sense -- it's understandable the Chargers would want their players inside the locker room for halftime.
But it's unfathomable the Chargers would make Weddle cough up $10,000 to watch his daughter dance at halftime of what might have been their final home game ever in San Diego.
