Cam Newton, fresh off an MVP season, showed off some improved decision making and timing on Thursday. Newton realized the time had come to kill the dab once and for all.

While appearing on WFNZ, Newton broke the news. He's done with the dab and is onto a yet-to-be named touchdown celebration.

"I have to put that aside," Newton said, via Black and Blue Review. "I have time. I have until September to find out (a new celebration)."

RIP.

This is long overdue. Last season, which might as well be referred to as the Year of the Dab, featured dabs from everyone, everywhere. Just how overdone did it become? Roger Goodell broke out the dab. Andy Reid caught onto the trend. Tennis star Victoria Azarenka couldn't stop dabbing after winning Grand Slam matches.

Perhaps even worse, Peyton Manning tried his hand at it.

But now that it might finally be over, let's look back on all the good times. The dab, as Will Brinson explained in an in-depth look at the dab's connection to the Panthers, "began in Atlanta before the football season began, with multiple rap groups unleashing it on the world via music videos." Newton, who is from Atlanta, then incorporated the dance into his touchdown celebration.

This is how it's supposed to be done:

If you're looking to immortalize Newton's dab, you're in luck, as long as you have a spare $40 handy. Here's a Cam Newton dab bobblehead, because let's face it, the dab will never truly die.

Cam might've killed it, but what is dead may never die.
