The Broncos aren't sure who their starting quarterback is going to be against the Falcons this week, but it sounds like coach Gary Kubiak is hoping that Trevor Siemian will be ready to go.
The Broncos starting quarterback had to leave the game early on Sunday after suffering a left shoulder injury during the second quarter of Denver's 27-7 win over Tampa Bay. Although Siemian didn't return to the game, it sounds like he might be healthy enough to play in Week 5.
During an interview with KDSP-AM in Denver on Monday, Kubiak said that the team is planning for Siemian to play this week.
"Our plans moving forward are for Trevor to be there Sunday (against the Falcons) and be ready to go, but he's day to day," Kubiak said, via the Broncos official website.
According to NFL.com, Siemian suffered an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder. The injury happened after Siemian was slammed to the turf by Tampa's Clinton McDonald.
Before leaving the game, Siemian completed 5 of 7 passes for 68 yards against the Buccaneers. After the win, Kubiak noted that Siemian could've gone back in the game if the Broncos needed him to, but they decided to leave him on the bench because Denver led by at least two scores for the entire second half.
"We felt like we could have put Trevor back in the game," Kubiak said, via the Denver Post. "But I really liked the job Paxton [Lynch] did. He was handling himself, handling the team well, so we stuck with him."
If for some reason Siemian can't go on Sunday, that means Lynch would be called upon to make his first career NFL start. The 26th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft made his regular season debut on Sunday and wasn't bad against the Buccaneers. In two and a half quarters of action, Lynch went 14 of 24 for 170 yards and a touchdown.
