Steve Kerr has not been on the bench for the Golden State Warriors since Game 2 of their first-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers, and according to the latest remarks from general manager Bob Myers, it doesn't appear he'll be doing so any time soon.
Speaking Thursday about Kerr, Myers said, "at this point, he's not able to coach," though they aren't officially ruling anything out. Via the Mercury News:
"At this point, he's not able to coach," Myers said. "I wish I could say that he was. I'm sure he wishes he could as well. But that's where we are. If something changes and he feels better, I'll sit here — or better he'll sit here — and tell you. But right now, I can't say that he's going to be coaching."
Myers said that if Kerr starts to feel better, the Warriors would make a decision on his status, but added, "Right now, we're not putting on any deadlines should he feel better what we would do. It'll be based on how he feels, how long he's felt well."
The good news is that Kerr has improved to a point at which he's able to travel with the team, and, as we've seen, give pep talks during halftime. Regardless of whether or not he's able to coach in the Finals, hopefully Kerr's recovery continues to improve.
