Nene, 33, has fallen off in recent years but could see a resurgence in Houston's system under Mike D'Antoni. Nene is used to playing in an up-and-down system after so many years with the Nuggets under George Karl.
Despite the absence of a pure point guard in Houston, Nene will be talented in the pick and roll, still able to dunk on short bursts and hit floaters. He'll also help bolster their center corp after Dwight Howard's departure with Clint Capela still likely to take over the starting job.
The one-year deal is crazy cheap in this market and Houston could use the veteran depth. Good deal for both sides.
