  • Brewers' Mitch White: Clears waivers

The Brewers outrighted White to Triple-A Nashville on Monday after he cleared waivers, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. White doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, so Milwaukee had to designate him for assignment and expose him to waivers last Thursday, when the team needed to clear room in the bullpen for Nashville call-up Kevin Herget. After being acquired from the Giants on May 10, White made six relief appearances for Milwaukee and gave up eight runs (six earned) over 8.1 innings. The right-hander has functioned as a starter for most of his professional career, so he could get stretched back out as a member of the rotation at Nashville.

  • Brewers' Mitch White: Dealt to Milwaukee

Milwaukee acquired White from San Francisco on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. White has been traded twice in the past month, first moving to San Francisco from Toronto on April 20 before heading to Milwaukee on Friday. He's pitched 15.1 big-league innings in 2024, owning a 7.63 ERA and a 7:9 K:BB. Though White hasn't offered much to be excited about at the major-league level since posting a 3.66 ERA over 46.2 innings with the Dodgers in 2021, the Brewers have a strong track record developing pitchers, and Milwaukee is dealing with plenty of injured arms at the moment. He'll likely begin his tenure with the Brewers as a long-relief option but could eventually gain consideration for starts.

  • Giants' Mitch White: DFA'd by San Francisco

The Giants designated White for assignment on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The right-hander was acquired from the Blue Jays on April 20 and surrendered sever runs over 5.1 frames in three outings for the Giants. White should make his way to Triple-A Sacramento if he passes through waivers unclaimed.

  • Giants' Mitch White: Traded to San Francisco

The Giants acquired White from the Blue Jays on Saturday in exchange for cash considerations, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. White had been designated for assignment by Toronto. He is out of minor-league options, so he will be joining the Giants' 26-man roster and the team will need to make a corresponding move once he reports. White figures to fill a long-relief role.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Designated for assignment

White was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Tuesday, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports. White had permitted six earned runs with a 6:4 K:BB across 10 innings in a long-relief role for the Jays. The 29-year-old holds just a career 4.99 ERA over 62 appearances (22 starts) at the big-league level, but with an ability to serve as rotation and/or bullpen depth, it's possible there will be some interest via trade or waivers.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Gets first spring start

White allowed two runs on five hits and a walk over three innings in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. He struck out two. The 29-year-old right-hander got his first start of the spring after three relief appearances, and White tossed two scoreless frames before running into trouble in the third after giving up back-to-back singles to Rene Pinto and Yandy Diaz. White has a lackluster 5.00 ERA and 4:7 K:BB through nine Grapefruit League innings, and he appears to be behind Bowden Francis in the battle for the fifth starter role that has opened up due to Alek Manoah's shoulder issues.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Still in mix for rotation spot

White is one of the top candidates to step into the rotation if either or both of Kevin Gausman (shoulder) and Alek Manoah (shoulder) aren't ready for Opening Day, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. White has shown increased velocity in camp, touching 97 mph with his fastball -- a boost he attributes to better health and mechanical tweaks. On the other hand, throwing harder hasn't meant throwing better so far this spring, as he's posted a rough 1:4 K:BB through three innings. The 29-year-old right-hander has posted miserable regular-season numbers for the Blue Jays since being acquired from the Dodgers, but he's out of minor-league options and Toronto isn't willing to give up on him just yet. Bowden Francis is the other main candidate for any open rotation spot.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Showing good velo early

White sat 94-95 mph with his fastball during his first bullpen session this spring, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. Blue Jays manager John Schneider described the 29-year-old right-hander as "electric", but a February bullpen session is still a long way from big-league success. White has struggled in the majors since being acquired from the Dodgers in August 2022, stumbling to a 7.60 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 55.2 innings, but he did finish last year with an impressive run at Triple-A Buffalo that saw him post a 1.89 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 43:14 K:BB over his last 33.1 innings (seven starts). White is out of minor-league options, which would seem to lock him into a long relief spot on the Opening Day roster.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Could have edge on roster spot

White is projected to break camp on the Blue Jays' 26-man roster by Gregor Chisholm of The Toronto Star. The 29-year-old right-hander has struggled during his time in Toronto after being acquired from the Dodgers in August 2022 and even lost his spot on the 40-man roster for a couple months this offseason, but he's out of minor-league options and the Jays can't afford to lose him on waivers given their lack of rotation depth. Should White open the season in the majors, he would likely be penciled into a long-relief role.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Outrighted to Triple-A

Toronto outrighted White to Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. White was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays last weekend following the trade for Jordan Hicks. The 28-year-old right-hander had allowed 11 runs -- 10 earned -- through just 12.2 major-league innings this season.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: DFA'd by Toronto

White was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Sunday. The 28-year-old has a 7.11 ERA over 10 outings for Toronto this season, and he lost his spot on the 26-man and 40-man rosters in order to clear space for trade-acquisition Jordan Hicks. White had a 3.66 ERA across 46.2 innings for the Dodgers in 2021 but has been unable to replicate that form over the past two seasons.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Tagged with loss Tuesday

White (0-1) took the loss Tuesday against the Dodgers, giving up an unearned run in the 10th inning in one-third of an inning. Erik Swanson's implosion in the ninth sent the game to extra innings, and White couldn't keep Chris Taylor from crossing the plate as the phantom runner in the bottom of the 10th as he served up a walk-off double to James Outman that nearly left the yard in center field. White has a rough 7.11 ERA, 1.74 WHIP and 13:7 K:BB in 12.2 innings since coming off the IL in mid-June, and the only thing keeping him in the big-league bullpen right now might be the fact that he's out of minor-league options.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Reinstated from IL

White (shoulder) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday. White has been on the shelf all season due to a right shoulder impingement and was pulled off his rehab assignment May 19 because of fatigue in the same shoulder. Now that he's officially off the injured list, he will likely join the Jays' bullpen in a multi-inning relief role. White logged a 7.74 ERA and 1.74 WHIP in 43 innings with Toronto last season.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Next rehab outing coming Wednesday

White (shoulder) is scheduled to make his next rehab appearance with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. White has resided on the Blue Jays' injured list all season while recovering from shoulder trouble and is now in the midst of his second rehab assignment. When he began the initial rehab assignment April 26, White appeared to be building up for a starting role, as he logged no fewer than 2.1 innings in any of his six outings before his 30-day rehab window closed May 27. He was able to restart the assignment last Thursday but has made 1.1-inning and one-inning appearances for Buffalo thus far, with his usage suggesting that the Blue Jays are now preparing for him to work out of the bullpen once he's activated. White has no minor-league options remaining, so the Blue Jays don't have the luxury of having him stay on a starter's schedule in the minors when he's brought back from the IL.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: To resume rehab assignment

White (shoulder) will begin a new rehab assignment Saturday with Triple-A Buffalo, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. White was pulled off a previous rehab stint last week due to shoulder fatigue, but it proved to be a minor blip in his recovery from the right elbow injury that has kept him out all year. He'll be stretched out as a starter on his rehab stint, beginning with something close to a 50-pitch outing Saturday for Buffalo.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Dealing with shoulder issue

White (elbow) experienced shoulder fatigue in his latest rehab outing with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. White reported to Toronto on Thursday for a visit with the Blue Jays' medical staff. He's been on the injured list all year because of elbow inflammation and is now faced with another delay to his timeline. The 28-year-old right-hander had allowed 14 runs -- 13 earned -- through 17 minor-league rehab innings.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Fifth rehab outing coming Wednesday

Blue Jays manager John Schneider said White (elbow) is scheduled to make another rehab appearance with Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports. After opening the season on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, White was cleared to begin a rehab assignment at Single-A Dunedin on April 26. He made one appearance for the affiliate before moving up to Buffalo, with whom he covered three innings and gave up four runs on four hits and four walks in his most recent outing Friday. White's upcoming appearance Wednesday will be the fifth overall of his rehab assignment, and since the Blue Jays don't have a spot in the big-league rotation available for him at the moment, it wouldn't be surprising if he stuck around in Buffalo until his 30-day rehab window comes to a close May 26.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Builds up to four innings

White (elbow) struck out seven and allowed one earned run on six hits and one walk across four innings Sunday in his rehab start with Triple-A Buffalo. Making the third start of his rehab assignment and second in a row with Buffalo, White got stretched out to 67 pitches, throwing 47 of them for strikes. The right-hander looks to be ready for activation from the 15-day injured list, but because Toronto doesn't have an opening for him in the big-league rotation, White will presumably make one more rehab start in order for the Blue Jays to delay a roster move. White doesn't have any minor-league options remaining, so he'll have to remain with the parent club -- either as a starter or long reliever -- whenever he's activated.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Making rehab start Wednesday

White (elbow) will make a rehab start Wednesday for Triple-A Buffalo, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. White will make his second rehab appearance after throwing 3.1 shutout innings for Low-A Dunedin last Wednesday. The right-hander is being built up as a starter as he recovers from elbow inflammation that has sidelined him for the entirety of the 2023 campaign. White is scheduled to throw around 50 pitches Wednesday and should be fully stretched out after another rehab start or two, but he may not have a spot in the Toronto rotation waiting for him by the time he's ready to return from the 15-day injured list. The Blue Jays' top five starting pitchers are all healthy at the moment.

  • Blue Jays' Mitch White: Cleared for rehab assignment

White (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Dunedin on Wednesday, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports. White missed all of spring training initially with a shoulder injury and then with an elbow issue, so his rehab assignment figures to be a lengthy one. He is out of options, so the righty should join the major-league roster once deemed ready, perhaps in a long-relief role.
