Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Returns to Triple-A
The Diamondbacks optioned Barrosa to Triple-A Reno on Friday, Jesse Friedman of GoPHNX.com reports.
The 23-year-old joined Arizona when big-league rosters expanded to 28 players Sunday, but he'll head back to Triple-A with Ketel Marte (ankle) returning from the injured list. Barrosa has a .470 OPS in eight big-league games this season and has a .269/.364/.423 slash line with six homers and 10 steals in 61 contests at Triple-A.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Swipes bag in win
Barrosa started in center field and went 0-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Giants.
Barrosa, who made his first start since being called up as part of the September roster expansion, stole his first base as a major leaguer. The 23-year-old outfielder had double-digit swipes in four consecutive minor-league seasons prior to making his MLB debut in 2024. There could be more opportunities for the switch hitter, as Arizona placed Lourdes Gurriel (calf) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, although Randal Grichuk and Pavin Smith will likely benefit the most from Gurriel's absence.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Enters for injured starter
Barrosa went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored in Sunday's 14-3 win over the Dodgers.
Barrosa entered the game after starter Lourdes Gurriel injured his calf running out a double-play grounder. Gurriel is expected to undergo imaging as soon as possible to determine the severity of the injury, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. A tandem of the switch-hitting Barrosa and Randal Grichuk would likely take Gurriel's spot in the lineup if he misses time.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Summoned from Triple-A
The Diamondbacks recalled Barrosa from Triple-A Reno prior to Sunday's 14-3 win over the Dodgers. He came off the bench in the victory, doubling in his lone at-bat and playing three innings in left field.
Barrosa is back with the big club for the second time this season following a brief stint with the Diamondbacks in April. Though he entered Sunday's game in place of an injured Lourdes Gurriel (leg), Randal Grichuk may be in line ahead of Barrosa to claim a regular spot in the outfield alongside Corbin Carroll and Jake McCarthy if Gurriel ends up missing time. The 23-year-old Barrosa is one of Arizona's better prospects, but he's unproven at the big-league level and turned in a solid but unspectacular .787 OPS in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League this season prior to his promotion.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Returns to Triple-A club Monday
Triple-A Reno reinstated Barrosa (undisclosed) from the 7-day injured list Monday.
The 23-year-old outfielder missed about three weeks of action during his second IL stint of the season. Barrosa previously appeared in three games for Arizona in early April, but he'll likely stick around at Reno for the foreseeable future unless the Diamondbacks outfield is hit by the injury bug.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Goes back on IL
Triple-A Reno placed Barrosa on its 7-day injured list June 11 with an unspecified injury.
Barrosa was on Reno's IL for about six weeks due to a hamstring injury before returning to action May 31, but he was shut down again just over a week later. It's unclear if Barrosa aggravated the previous hamstring injury, or if he's dealing with a new health concern. He's appeared in just 18 games for Reno this season, slashing .283/.389/.417 with one home run and three stolen bases across 72 plate appearances.

Triple-A Reno reinstated Barrosa (hamstring) from the 7-day injured list Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Barrosa has been on the shelf since late April due to a right hamstring strain. He began playing rehab games in the Arizona Complex League last week, going 4-for-16 with three RBI across four games, and he's been given the green light to return to the Aces' lineup. The 23-year-old outfielder is slashing 308/.438/.462 across 48 Triple-A plate appearances and made his MLB debut earlier this season, going 2-for-10 with an RBI in three games against the Yankees in early April.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Lands on MiLB IL
Triple-A Reno placed Barrosa on the 7-day injured list Thursday due to a right hamstring strain, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports.
Barrosa hasn't been on the field since last Sunday, when he suffered the injury. His absence impacts the Diamondbacks, as Barrosa is the only minor-league outfielder on the club's 40-man roster. He played three games for Arizona earlier this season after Alek Thomas (hamstring) suffered his injury and before Randal Grichuk was activated. Barrosa is swinging a hot bat for Aces, posting an average of .308 with a .900 OPS.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Optioned to Reno
Barrosa was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Barrosa was promoted to the majors Monday and made two starts across the next three games. He went 2-for-10 with a double, an RBI and a run scored while striking out just once. The transaction suggests Randal Grichuk (ankle) will return Friday, but Barrosa could be back in the majors in relatively short order.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: In lineup again
Barrosa started in center field and went 1-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's 6-5 extra-innings loss to the Yankees.
Barrosa received a second straight start in center field, both against lefty hurlers, which suggests the switch-hitter may platoon with lefty Jake McCarthy to cover for Alek Thomas (hamstring) while he's unavailable. After Thursday's day off, the Diamondbacks play a weekend series in Atlanta, which kicks off Friday against right-hander Spencer Strider.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Lashes double in first MLB AB
Barrosa entered Monday's game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with a double in a 5-2 loss to the Yankees.
Barrosa, who made his MLB debut with the plate appearance, was called up earlier in the day after Arizona placed Alek Thomas (hamstring) on the injured list. He replaced the lefty-hitting Jake McCarthy against left-hander Victor Gonzalez in the bottom of the ninth inning. While McCarthy figures to benefit the most from Thomas' injury, the 23-year-old switch-hitting Barrosa gives manager Torey Lovullo another lever to pull.

Diamondbacks' Jorge Barrosa: Summoned to big leagues
Barrosa was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
It's the first big-league promotion for Barrosa, who slashed .274/.394/.456 with 13 home runs and 15 stolen bases at Reno last season. The switch-hitting 23-year-old is capable of playing all three outfield spots and will likely serve mostly as a fourth outfielder, although he could be a candidate for starts against lefties.

Barrosa (hamstring) has started in five games since being activated from Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list April 11, going 6-for-19 with a home run, a double, three walks, seven RBI and three runs.
Barrosa required only a brief stint on Reno's IL to begin the season while he worked his way back from the strained right hamstring he suffered in a Feb. 26 Cactus League game. Now that he's healthy again, the 22-year-old switch-hitting outfielder appears set to fill an everyday role for the Diamondbacks' top affiliate.

Barrosa was removed from Saturday's game due to hamstring tightness, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

He reached Double-A Amarillo in 2022 and is not expected to be part of the MLB roster in 2023. Barrosa's best assets are defense and speed. He stole 26 bases (but was caught 12 times) over two minor-league stops in 2022.
