Hanley went yard three times against the Giants on Wednesday, and one of them called to mind a David Ortiz blast in the 2013 ALCS

On Wednesday night, the Red Sox fended off the Giants at Fenway by a score of 11-7 (box score). A large part of the damage was attributable to Boston first baseman Hanley Ramirez, who hit three homers on the night.

Especially notable was Hanley's first clout of the evening. Please observe and take note of some key details ...

In summary, Hanley Ramirez hit a home run, the outfielder flipped over the right field wall and into the Sox bullpen, and a member of the Boston PD was on the scene to celebrate. Thirty-three months earlier, Big Papi did the same thing. Big Papi's uniform number? It's 34. OK, that didn't quite work out, but it was almost some jaw-dropping numerology.

Oh, and here's Ramirez's third and final home run on Wednesday ...

That, as you can see, is a late-inning home run down the left field line, seemingly in danger of going foul, that eventually cleared the Green Monster. It came against a National League club with legitimate designs on the championship. On that point ...
