Thanks to a promotion gone awry, Thursday night's game between the Class A Batavia Muckdogs (Marlins) and the State College Spikes (Cardinals), was delayed for two minutes. By a sheep.
In the middle of the sixth inning a sheep managed to get loose and make its way on to the field and wander around the outfield. Eventually the grounds crew was able to reel it in, but not before the sheep led them on a little chase. Check it out:
So why was their a sheep at the ballpark in the first place? The Spikes booked Whiplash the Cowboy Monkey for a promotion, and part of the act involved several sheep. Someone accidentally left a gate open and the sheep made an unsuccessful break for it.
Nice try by the sheep, but alas. The plot was foiled. Better luck next time.
