Earlier this week, we saw a game end on a horrible defensive blunder by a center fielder. On Friday, Rajai Davis of the Indians scored an equalizer, making a circus catch to record an out before returning the ball to the infield so his teammates could finish a game-ending double play against the Tigers.

Here's the video. You'll want to watch it a few times to get the full effect:

To recap: Miguel Cabrera hit the ectoplasm out of the baseball. Yet somehow Davis was able to run the ball down and secure it after some popcorn action. With some confusion over whether Davis had made a legitimate catch, both Tigers baserunners, who were off with contact, continued to advance the basepaths -- you can see the lead runner cross the plate as cutoff man Jason Kipnis threw the ball home. That last part didn't matter, though, because Yan Gomes tossed the ball to first and that was that.

It probably goes without saying that Davis' ex-Tigers teammates and coaches weren't amused with his game-ending heroics. Manager Brad Ausmus went so far as to put his thoughts on record:

Here's something else that goes without saying: Davis' play was the best of the night.
