Nationals right-hander Stephen Strasburg recently inked a seven-year, $175 million contract extension with the team that originally drafted him back in 2009. As with all matters, this leads us back to Donald Trump, the very likely GOP nominee for president.
Back in 2012, Trump tweeted this about Strasburg during the furor over the "Strasburg Shutdown" ...
When Strasburg leaves @Nationals for another team for more money, will Washington still like the decision to shut him down for his good?

Incorrect!
Trump, as you can see, boldly declared that Strasburg would leave the Nats in favor of a higher payday on the free agent market. This was a reasonable take at the time, given that Strasburg was and is a Scott Boras client, and Boras typically prefers to steer his clients to the market as soon as possible.
Strasburg, of course, would have been a free agent after the 2016 season, but now that the Nats have locked him up, that's not going to happen, at least not any time soon (Strasburg reportedly has opt-outs after the third and fourth seasons of his new deal).
Now, does anyone have any thoughts on Donald Trump he or she would like to share with the class?
