The European Tour is in South Africa this week at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. It is the second of three playoff events that culminates next week with the World Tour Championship.

South Africa's animal population is a bit more varied than some of the other countries the European Tour visits, and on Thursday we got a taste of that. A pack of mongoose (I had to look up that a group of mongoose is called a pack ... and that they are called mongoose) scurried across one of the greens but somehow did not touch one of the golf balls on the green.

The hilarious part of this is that Dustin Johnson can ground his club at the U.S. Open and move his golf ball but 25 mongoose can run across a green and the ball doesn't move (or it doesn't appear to move).

Ross Fisher, Felipe Aguilar and Jeunghun Wang are all 4 under and lead by one over Henrik Stenson and others after the first round.
