The 2016 Ryder Cup got off to a thrilling start with a roller coaster ride of a Friday as the United States jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the morning session before Europe stormed back to close the gap to 5-3 in the afternoon.
After a thrilling morning session of foursomes that saw Europe pick up a point on the Americans to bring the United States' lead to 6.5-5.5, the afternoon session matches were announced for Saturday.

The surprise pairings are Mickelson-Kuchar together and Willett-Westwood considering the relative struggles they all had the first two days, with Kuchar's foursome match with Johnson the exception on Friday morning.
