Andrew "Beef" Johnston has become a fan favorite at the 145th Open Championship and found himself in the penultimate pairing on Sunday with Bill Haas.
His everyman quality and jovial attitude make Beef as lovable a player as there is, and it doesn't hurt that he's played fantastic golf this week. Then there's the nickname, Beef.
Johnston explained that he was given the nickname as a child by a friend who told him his hair, which gets curly when grown out, looks like beef and called him "Beefhead," which was eventually shortened to "Beef." Johnston steers into the nickname, embracing it, and even has a custom stamped wedge.

Yes, that's a wedge stamped with types of steak. Only Beef.
