Tee times and groups have been announced for golf at the 2016 Rio Olympics and there are some good ones that have been set. The field is not necessarily a strong one (as you can see below), but there are still some solid groups on Thursday and Friday for Round 1 and 2 as the men's golf competition gets going.

There will also be a nice nod to the home country as golf gets kicked off this year.

At 7:30 a.m. local time on Thursday 11th August, history will be made when Brazilian, Adilson da Silva, hits the opening tee shot and golf's return to the Olympic Games will be complete.

Here are the groups (all times Eastern)

The best groups are Willett-Kuchar-Li, Watson-Kaymer-Lahiri, Garcia-Reed-Grillo and Fowler-Rose-Vegas, and it's not even that close really.

There are a lot of players nobody (including me) has ever heard of, which will be a problem when it comes to viewership. But my inkling is that with that gold medal on the line late in the weekend, nobody will have any issues getting into the drama. As we saw on Sunday, golf always wins out in the end.
