Islanders' Scott Mayfield: Sent down to minors

Mayfield has been returned to AHL Bridgeport, Brian Compton of NHL.com reports.

This transaction allowed the Isles to activate Johnny Boychuk from injured reserve. Mayfield played in one of two games following his most recent call-up, recording 15:34 of ice time and two PIM in a 5-3 win over Minnesota this past Tuesday. Now, Mayfield's packed his bags for Bridgeport where he's contributed six points, 41 PIM and a plus-6 rating through 38 games.
