Smith-Pelly (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
The move is retroactive to December 3, meaning that Smith-Pelly won't be eligible to suit up until Thursday's tilt in Detroit. In Smith-Pelly's absence, Daniel Carr scored in his first-career game this Saturday.
