Bell (knee) may be placed on season-ending injured reserve as soon as Monday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.
The Steelers didn't provide a diagnosis after Sunday's loss to the Bengals, but even in a best-case scenario, Bell will likely miss multiple games. He was unable to put any weight on his right leg and was taken out of the stadium to undergo further evaluation. According to Dave Lolley of the Washington Observer-Reporter, the Steelers are worried that Bell suffered a torn MCL, which could potentially bring his season to an early end. H suffered an MCL injury in the same knee Week 17 last season, and while the issue wasn't said to be too serious at the time, he later admitted that it took nearly the entire offseason to heal. It shouldn't yet be assumed that Bell will miss the rest of the season, but it does seem that DeAngelo Williams will lead the Pittsburgh backfield for at least the next few weeks.
