Casspi (thumb) is about a week away from receiving clearance to take contact and has drawn interest from a number of teams, ESPN.com's Marc Stein reports.
After being acquired from the Kings as part of the DeMarcus Cousins trade, Casspi fractured his right thumb in his debut with the Pelicans back on Feb. 23 and was waived shortly thereafter once it was determined he'd be sidelined for four-to-six weeks. It appears that Casspi is recovering quicker than expected, and at the latest, it seems that he'll be fully healthy by the end of March, which has prompted some playoff-contending teams to evaluate him for a roster spot. The 28-year-old isn't likely to see major minutes regardless of where he lands, but his skills as a perimeter shooter could make him a valuable rotation option off the bench.
