Thornton will be waived by the Nets, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reports.
Thornton, along with Andrew Nicholson and a first-round pick were shipped to Brooklyn earlier Wednesday in exchange for Bojan Bogdanovic and Chris McCullough. However, the Nets are happy with where their shooting guard situation is at and will look elsewhere to fill the final spot on the roster. That sends Thornton back to the free agent pool, where he'll look to latch on with a contender or a provide a younger, more inexperienced roster with some veteran help from the eighth-year pro.
