Anthony was waived Sunday by the Pistons, Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press reports.
In order to clear room for the newly-signed Boban Marjanovic, who officially became a member of the Pistons on Sunday after the Spurs declined to match his three-year, $21 million offer sheet, Detroit dropped Anthony and Cameron Bairstow from the roster and renounced their rights to free agent Steve Blake. Even if he had remained on the roster, Anthony likely would have been no better than fourth on the depth chart at center behind Andre Drummond, Aron Baynes and Marjanovic. Now 33 and coming off a season in which he logged only 19 appearances, Anthony figures to attract sparse interest from other NBA teams.
