The Yankees transferred Vivas' (undisclosed) rehab assignment Tuesday from Single-A Tampa to High-A Hudson Valley. Vivas remains on Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 7-day injured list with an unspecified injury, which has prevented him from playing with the affiliate since April 24. The infielder appears to be closing in on a return to the Triple-A club, however, after going 1-for-11 with three walks and a stolen base across his four rehab appearances with Tampa last week.... Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Activated from Triple-A IL
Vivas (eye) has been activated from the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. Vivas suffered an orbital fracture late in spring training but is now ready for game action. The 23-year-old utility player is on the 40-man roster and could eventually push for his first big-league promotion this season.... See More ... See Less -
Yankees' Jorbit Vivas: Scratched due to face contusion
The Yankees scratched Vivas from the lineup for Monday's exhibition against the Mets due to a face contusion suffered during pregame activity, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports. According to the Yankees' medical staff, Vivas didn't exhibit symptoms of a concussion, but he was still transported to a local hospital to undergo further evaluation. Vivas, who was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, could be at risk of missing the affiliate's season opener Friday at Buffalo.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Jorbit Vivas: Doing it all at Double-A
Vivas is slashing .300/.404/.474 with 10 home runs, 13 steals and a 38:36 K:BB in 79 games for Double-A Tulsa. The 22-year-old second baseman has been steady all season for the Drillers, and he could soon get a promotion to Triple-A. Vivas, who hits left-handed, has a 21.7 percent hard-hit rate and a 22.5 percent soft-hit rate, and he projects for below-average game power in the big leagues despite this strong showing in the Texas League.... Dodgers' Jorbit Vivas: Thriving in Double-A
Vivas is slashing .391/.473/.766 with four home runs, 10 doubles, a triple, 14 runs, 12 RBI and three stolen bases through 16 games with Double-A Tulsa. Vivas hasn't generally ranked among the Dodgers' top 10 prospects to this point, but that could change if he continues to hit the way he is now. The 21-year-old has started his first stint at Double-A with a 16-game hitting streak, knocking multiple hits in eight of those contests. Vivas had already flashed a strong hit tool and a sharp eye at the plate coming into 2023, hitting .286 through his first three years in the minors and consistently posting strikeout rates in the low-to-mid-teens. He had topped out at 14 homers across 477 plate appearances in 2021 but is already well above that pace with four long balls this season.... See More ... See Less -
Dodgers' Jorbit Vivas: Sent to minors camp
Vivas was optioned Monday to minor-league camp by the Dodgers. Vivas needed to be optioned rather than reassigned since he was added to the 40-man roster in November. The 22-year-old infielder spend the 2022 season with High-A Great Lakes while registering a .775 OPS with 10 homers and two stolen bases. He'll likely report to Double-A Tulsa to begin 2023.... Dodgers' Jorbit Vivas: Added to 40-man roster
Vivas was added to the Dodgers' 40-man roster Friday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports. Vivas showed last season that he has one of the best hit tools in the lower levels of the minors, hitting .318/.422/.424 with 13 strikeouts and 13 walks as a 20-year-old at High-A. He is in a pretty crowded organization, but Vivas' stock is trending up.... See More ... See Less
