Hicks took ground balls at first base after batting practice Tuesday, George A. King of the New York Post reports.
With Greg Bird on the disabled list and Chris Carter -- before Tuesday's three-hit, two-run home run showing -- struggling at the plate, the Yankees are trying to get creative with their options at first. Manager Joe Girardi has also turned to Matt Holliday there three times but indicated he'd rather keep the 37-year-old at DH. With Hicks off to a blazing start at the plate -- .317/.457/.585 slash line with six home runs -- they'll look to keep his bat in the lineup any way they can, so it's possible the 27-year-old may see some action at first while Bird remains on the shelf.
