Baez is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Twins, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Baez has found some success at the plate recently with an .871 OPS across the past five games, but he'll head to the bench for Friday's series opener at Minnesota. Zach McKinstry will step in at shortstop and bat seventh.
