Shawaryn has looked good in three of his first four starts at Short-Season Lowell, Matt Huegel of SoxProspects.com reports.
The right-hander, who was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 draft out of the University of Maryland, has allowed just four hits and one run over 7.2 innings in those three starts. Shawaryn had been considered a guy who could go in one of the first two rounds, but an unexplained drop in velocity during his junior year dropped his stock. The fastball velocity is back to 92-93 mph, topping at 95, and the Red Sox may have gotten themselves a steal in the fifth round.
